FAQ
How much is the sign-up fee? is it per student or per team? what does this fee include? what is the payment deadline?
The signup fee will be 40 EUR per person if he/she wants to participate in any of the sporting events. Non-sports participants will be charged 20 EUR per person. The fee will be used to cover facility rental and equipment costs along with entrance to all parties. A light lunch, beverages, snacks, and an evening BBQ on Saturday are also included in the fee. Registration will open February 5th and close March 26th. We would appreciate it if you could please sign up as soon as possible.
Will sports equipment be provided to the participants?
Yes, sports equipment (balls, cricket wickets, chess boards/pieces, etc) will be made available to participants. However, participants are encouraged to bring any special equipment that he/she may require (personal tennis racquets, etc). Participants may also want to bring equipment for practice since equipment will only be provided during the competition.
Is there any additional material or assistance on behalf of your school that will be available to the participants that we may not be aware of?
Accommodations and food (except the meals listed above) are not being coordinated by IESE and should be coordinated by the participating MBA program. However, we will provide suggestions for hotels in Barcelona at discount rates. For any additional information on anything else needed throughout the weekend, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Can I sign up for more than one event? If I do, does it cost more?
You can register for as many events as you like but bear in mind that timetable clashes may limit participation to 1-2 events.
Only one sign-up is required per competitor, no matter how many sports they sign up for.
I want to come but don’t want to play sports. Is there a way to do that?
For partners, friends or those who wish to attend other than for sports, the BBQ and evening options are available for only €20 (less than a standard club entry on a Saturday!). Simply complete the online registration individually, selecting the “NO SPORT” option.
How can we get around the city?
Full details of local transportation can be found on the “Getting Around” page of our website.
What will the weather be like?
Mid-April in Barcelona typically entails clear blue skies, sunshine and around 20C, although we cannot guarantee this!
Where are the facilities?
The IESE Spring Games centre will be at the INEFC Sports Centre in Parc Montjuic, Barcelona (click here for a map) with all sports taking place within a short walk of the site.
INEFC is one of several venues in Parc Montjuic (including the Olympic Stadium and Swimming locations) built to host the 1992 Olympic Games.

Why don’t you include accommodation/ more food?
Being situated in Barcelona, there are a broad range of accommodation options available to participants and we don’t want to limit your options to something we like when you may prefer an alternative. Therefore, you are free to select any accommodation you like. At the same time, we do recommend our accommodation partner Budgetplaces, which offers some of the lowest prices available for accommodation in the city. Rooms are available from €25-30 per person per night.
As with accommodation, Barcelona is home to a broad variety of cuisine from all-you-can-eat buffets to the finest of Michelin Starred dining experiences. Again, we want you to be able to enjoy your preferred options and don’t want to limit you to a fixed offering. With such a wide price range, you will have little difficulty finding great food.
How do we get there?
Barcelona International Airport is situated around 18km to the South West of the city and in El Prat de Llobregat. The airport is also widely known as “El Prat”. Beware of flights to Girona as this city is around an hour North of Barcelona. Taxis to the city centre from El Prat cost around €25 one way and take around 20-25 minutes. There is also an airport bus “Aerobus” which runs from both terminals to the central square, Placa Catalunya, leaving every 15 minutes and costing €5 one way. The bus takes approximately 30 minutes.
Barcelona operates a highly integrated public transport network in addition to the taxis which are easily hailed on the street. Several buses run regularly through the city to the IESE Spring Games site at Montjuic and cost €1.70 for a single cash fare, less if group tickets are purchased. For more details please see our website.
Where do we stay?
As with any major city, Barcelona offers a broad range of options for accommodation. Given the relatively compact nature of the city and the excellent public transport links, it is possible to stay in almost any area of the city without difficulty. However, most visitors tend to prefer staying in the Barri Gotic (also known as the Barrio Gotico) – the Gothic Quarter, which is the oldest part of the city, or in L’Eixample, just to the north of Barri Gotic, which is constructed in the grid system. Our accommodation partner, Budgetplaces, is able to provide rooms in these and other areas.
Do we have a dress code for the parties?
Yes!! please be aware that strict club clothing is expected to be able to enter the disco’s in Barcelona. Please dress appropriately and remember to have shoes. Sneakers, sports apparels, tee-shirts etc are a strict no no. Dress to impress. We are sorry but this is an aspect that is totally out of our control!
